私たちは戦時中に日本軍が起こした加害について向き合い花岡事件の作品を作りました。ここボルネオにまで日本軍は侵略し民間人を巻き込み、そして無謀な移動命令「サンダカン死の行進」という悲劇を起こしました。
東南アジア諸国で社会問題をテーマに版画を刻み込む仲間たちとクンダサン戦争記念公園でセッションを行う機会をいただきました。
私たちはそれぞれ思うことを共有し、改めて後世に残された戦争の愚かさを噛み締め、そしてハグをしてくれた仲間の優しさに救われました。
その後、ウィリー @pontau ローシー @melimeloll たくさんの仲間の彫刻刀が加わり、勉強旅行の一場面として絵巻に加わりました。この素晴らしい出来事を決して忘れないでしょう。
We confronted the atrocities committed by the Japanese military during the war and created a work about the Hanaoka Incident. Even here in Borneo, the Japanese army invaded, involving civilians and causing the tragic event known as the “Sandakan Death March” through reckless orders of forced relocation.
We had the opportunity to hold a session at the Kundasang War Memorial together with fellow artists from Southeast Asian countries who carve woodblock prints that address social issues.
We shared our thoughts, once again deeply reflecting on the senselessness of war passed down to future generations, and were comforted by the kindness of our companions who embraced us.
Later, with the addition of many carving friends, including Willy and Ruoxi , this moment from our study trip became part of the picture scroll.
We will never forget this wonderful event.
